Long Fic is FINISHED
(It's Sunday and I'mma in the mood to spam my flist.)
I've been meaning to mention this for a few days. You remember the long Urban Fantasy that I mentioned in a post a few days ago, the one that I've been struggling to find an ending for? Well, it's actually DONE.
As in all the primary writing is finished. And the sad thing is, it's been done for months. Really. It's been done since early April, but I've stubbornly refused to see it that way. You see, in my head, after the climatic scene, the story continued - more to tie up some of the big plot points and give me a chance to flesh out a few ideas that have been with me since I started writing the tale.
In early May, I cut out about 10k of I had written after the climax, and then I wrote another 2k as an epilogue, which I was very unhappy with. I hadn't looked at it in about six weeks - but I always knew it was there, sitting so patiently in Dropbox. I opened the last chapter and read it like it wasn't mine.
And I had an epiphany. It was done. Completely and utterly done.
No need for an epilogue, after all.
I moved around a few paragraphs, added a few more sentences to capture a finality and ta-da - it's done. Now it just needs to be beta'd. Not that it hasn't been, along the way, but at 61k, there are bound to be inconsistencies and all sorts of grammatical issues. I think I am going to start posting it after the first half of this season ends, which will give my beta readers plenty of time. And if I calculate the timing right, I'll post the last chapter on the first anniversary of date I started writing it. Which is going to be a difficult date, for a number of reasons. Maybe I shouldn't try to do that.
And what about that extra 12k? There's good story there, and I will definitely take up all of the threads and finish them. In separate stories.
In other news, I've changed my header. I don't know why I resisted the idea of a WC specific header for so long - it's not like this LJ is about anything other than WC and me me me me. So now, instead of freaked out carousel horses staring at you with wild eyeballs, you've got a freaked out Neal Caffrey. Much, much prettier.

Isn't it such a wonderful feeling to get something done?

If there is one thing I've learned from this fic is that patience is definitely a virtue.
I'll send you the files now.

I am working on a few other tales that will probably go epic, and will probably appear before I start posting this one.

Also, I love your new header.

I think you should be very proud of finishing your story. Sometimes stories just flow and other times you just have to walk away from them to get a sense of perspective.
I scrolled back up to look at your header again. It is kind of freaky! :-)

I love the new header :D

I do hope your patience will be rewarded. It's not your everyday Peter/Neal story. Not in the least.

I love the idea of posting it at the end of the first half of the season. We all will seriously need something to look forward to as I fear Jeff will throw a Moz-sized monkey wrench into Neal's life about that time.
