Summary: Obi-Wan Kenobi has never known it, but he has always been the Force’s Champion, destined to suffer infinite sadness in defense of the Light. On his last turn on the wheel, responsibility for The Chosen One, the false child of prophecy, had been thrust upon him with no warning, and Darkness held the upper hand.

But this time, the Force has marshaled its power and will protect its Champion until the time is right, no matter how long Obi-Wan has to wait and how much he has to suffer.

Or,

Obi-Wan is reborn as a twelve-year old.

He wakes up on a slavers’ ship, with all of his prior life’s memories intact, and he’s bound for Tatooine with a Force-inhibitor collar around his neck, a bomb implanted in his spine, and no way of knowing what state of the Galaxy is in.

Just another day in the life of the Force’s Champion.

Chapter Summary: Qui-Gon knows he is wrong to have uttered a single harsh word to his padawan.

He wants to, but he can’t. He needs to stand with his brother and Master and his Grandmaster as Komari’s body is consigned to the pyre. And then, maybe he’ll find the strength of his convictions to get on his knees and beg Obi-Wan’s forgiveness.

Slower writing week, mostly because I spend a lot of time editing. A lot of the comments to Chapter 42 sparked ideas and the need to make minor tweaks to the chapter I just posted. Nothing major in terms of plot, but how I handled some of the pacing. That kind of editing is slog. Slow and time-consuming. Also, was not feeling well for much of the weekend. Had a medical thing last Thursday that wiped me out until Monday. So…

Life goes on. I promise not to die before this is done.

Short meta is short.

I do hope everyone is happy with the quick resolution of Qui-Gon's brief foray into the Realm of Assholedom. He’s going to be beating himself up about this for a long time. And maybe Obi-Wan forgives him to easily, but his grief and his sorrow at his terrible behavior is sincere and he’s not going to do this ever again. (As the author, I promise).

What do you think about the life bond? When I introduced it, way back in Chapter 24, I had thought it seemed kind of clichéd and overdone, but yet, I really loved the idea, too. So I dropped the hint but didn’t fully develop it. Just let it hang there, waiting for the right moment.

And this seemed like the right moment. Qui-Gon’s jealousy of Quinlan isn’t because of the life bond. No, it’s because he’s a banta’s ass who doesn’t realize that he’s in love with his padawan and he is perceptive enough to see that Quinlan Vos, of all the men that Obi-Wan is attracted to, might just be the One who he will connect most permanently with.

But enough with the mushy stuff. Are you angry about Feemor? Do you care? More importantly, can you see where this is going?

And Qui-Gon’s m-count. You just know that every other member of the High Council is going to have a bump, too. Have you figured out why? I’m not telling, not yet. It’ll come out in the end, I promise, because it’s not some random shit that I’m flinging into the story. Everything has its purpose.
