Summary: Obi-Wan Kenobi has never known it, but he has always been the Force’s Champion, destined to suffer infinite sadness in defense of the Light. On his last turn on the wheel, responsibility for The Chosen One, the false child of prophecy, had been thrust upon him with no warning, and Darkness held the upper hand.

But this time, the Force has marshaled its power and will protect its Champion until the time is right, no matter how long Obi-Wan has to wait and how much he has to suffer.

Or,

Obi-Wan is reborn as a twelve-year old.

He wakes up on a slavers’ ship, with all of his prior life’s memories intact, and he’s bound for Tatooine with a Force-inhibitor collar around his neck, a bomb implanted in his spine, and no way of knowing what state of the Galaxy is in.

Just another day in the life of the Force’s Champion.

Chapter Summary: The morning after Plo’s very interesting conversation with Padawan Kenobi, he reports to the High Council chamber a little late. The Master of the Order takes one look at him and asks him why he’s suddenly acquired a shatterpoint.

Plo has no idea. He’s not the type to go around acquiring such things.

Oh, wait. He spent time with Obi-Wan Kenobi. That might explain it.

Meta - Chapter 22 - For Who is the Judge and What is the Judgment

As always, I am deeply grateful for all the love you’ve given this story, the outpouring of comments on the last chapter - the guessing on where the story is heading - makes me so very happy.

Progress has slowed to a crawl, mostly because I’m feeling like crud. Also, it took me about half the week to realize that I was on the wrong track with the chapter and I needed change paths. Which meant cutting out a hard won 3k that took about two weeks to write. I got on the right track but then my chronic illness, which I thought was fully in remission, decided to flare up big time. It’s not a fatal thing, just fucking painful and I’m not due for another treatment until December. So progress is going to be slow. I’m thinking about taking a few weeks off from posting after Chapter 27, which is the end of Book II.

213,261 words, 41 chapters

After posting the longest chapter to date, I’ve got a fairly short chapter on offer. Funny how these things work out. Meta is just as short as the chapter, since I’m feeling like a load of freshly dropped bantha poodoo.

For the first and the last time, Mace is an asshole. His reaction to Obi-Wan’s purple lightsabers is unworthy and juvenile and really out of character. I tried rewriting it a half-dozen times and well, ended up back where I started. At least he gets hit by the clue-by-four quickly enough.

Yoda is also a shit here, too. But Yoda is expected to be a shit. He is, after all, still trying to steal Qui-Gon’s padawan.

Qui-Gon's over-achieving, over-worked, perfectionist padawan.

Someone get this kid a mind-healer, please.

I hope you’re enjoying the story and I look forward to your comments, both here if you’re Dreamwidth members and on AO3.
