Rating: Mature
Characters: Qui-Gon Jinn (Kal Cahill), Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ben Kenner), Original Characters

Word Count: ~5,100 (this chapter)

Warnings/Enticements/Triggers: Timestamp for Modern A/U, Fanwork of Fanwork, part of
WriteStuff ’s Yooperverse
Summary: Kal and Ben are in Dublin, meeting with Kal's money people, who tell Kal that the lawyers for his father's estate need to see him. Kal can't imagine why. His father's been dead for more than twenty years.
What Kal finds ends up reshaping his whole world, and although the journey is difficult, it's filled with wonderful people - a family Kal barely knew he had, a friend long forgotten, and at the end, some complicated truths.
Author’s Note:
Three years ago, I found an amazing story, Ever Since Happiness Called Your Name, and it became my perfect fanfic. I have read it so many times, I can recite parts of it. I was lucky enough to meet WriteStuff, the amazing author of this amazing story, and even luckier to become friends with her, amazing person that she is. For the last year or so, we have spent many hours each week (or day) talking about Kal and Ben and their lives. They are quite real people to us now.
One of our conversations centered around a comment Kal made at the end of Beyond the Rightness and Wrongness of Things, when he's talking about his relationship with his father. He seems so facile about it, and I just called bullshit, and said I'd like to write a timestamp exploring the truth of what really happened between Kal and his father. This story is that.
WriteStuff was not only my cheerleader and alpha-reader, but she was a critical reader too, making sure my vision of Kal and Ben stayed aligned with hers, but she also gave me amazing freedom, too. Working with her and her creations and George's (well just barely George's now) has been an honor.
The title of this story is borrowed from the poem by Yehuda Amachai, Wildpeace, which is reproduced in the endnotes.

Chapter Summary: Chapter One - Twenty-three years ago, Robert Cahill left behind a large wooden crate as a legacy for his son, Khalil. It’s only just been found. Fate and good luck, two things the Irish have in abundance, seem to be smiling on Kal - he and Ben are in Dublin just at the right moment in time.
