Meme - DVD Commentary (By the Numbers Version)
I've been a little quite here on LJ the past few months, and my apologies. I come bearing a meme - a version of the DVD Commentary meme I love so much!
Look at my Masterlist or my AO3 Works page and ask me up to three questions about any fic:
1:What inspired you to write the fic this way?
2:What scene did you first put down?
3:What's your favorite line of narration?
4:What's your favorite line of dialogue?
5:What part was hardest to write?
6:What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?
7:Where did the title come from?
8:Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?
9:Were there any alternate versions of this fic?
10:Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?
11:What do you like best about this fic?
12:What do you like least about this fic?
13:What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn't listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?
14:Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?
15:What did you learn from writing this fic?
And of course, if you want to play along, here's the text:

I don't really remember what prompted this particular story. It is, to my recollection, one of the few stories I started writing without a clear end it sight. I think I wanted to have Peter and Neal end up working together, but just not in the FBI.
5:What part was hardest to write?
The sexual assault scene. I almost didn't finish the story after writing it. I thought how horrible it was to have Peter sexually assault Neal like that, and it felt almost unrealistic that Neal could talk Peter out of the attack. But it happened that a few days after writing this scene (and putting it aside), I read an article about the types of sexual assault and how the only type of rape where it is possible to talk the assailant out of the act was the same type of situation that Neal had found himself in.
I'm still not 100% convinced I wrote it well, but as time passes, I find I'm less upset with the scene than I was when I first wrote it.
11:What do you like best about this fic?
I love how Peter is finally able to move forward with his life, that he finds himself (and Elizabeth, too) again, because he can finally talk with someone who cares.
(I'm skipping 12 because I think my answer to #5 addresses the same thing).
