Monday Rambles Are All Perspired

Back in the dark ages, you know, when I was a girl...

Ladies didn't sweat, they didn't even perspire. The "glowed." Which was the gospel according to Miss Belsen, our elementary school gym teacher.

Apparently Matt Bomer is every inch a lady, because despite the 95 degree heat, despite the Neal Caffrey-esque turtleneck, despite the wool pants, he's not sweating a drop.

And anyway...

It's been a month since my last ramble, and it's July in New York and I'm ready for Snowmaggedon.

It's also Big Bang Season.

I've signed up for three.

1 - Last spring, I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] whitecollar_bb. This one's about half done, and I've already turned in a 17k draft. It's currently called "White Collar Bakery A/U," but I'm going to need a title for it eventually. I do wish the mods were more engaged with the community. The challenge needs artists, but you wouldn't know by the level of communication we've gotten from the community leaders.

2 - Yesterday, I committed to [livejournal.com profile] dragonbigbang because I really need the push to write the White Collar/Pern Fusion I've had in my head (and promised to my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] winterstar95 for her Help Sandy Fandom Aid donation last November). Drafts are due in November, posting's not until January.

3 - And today, I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] polybigbang

The Polyamory Big Bang is my favorite big bang of them all. The mods are wonderfully engaged, responsive, flexible - everything that a challenge community moderator should be, and it's a pleasure writing for them.

This will be the third time I've participated in this particular big bang. The first time, I wrote Love Is As Rich As the Sea, the Neal-as-Selkie story set against the arc of Season Three. Last year, I wrote A Life Less Ordinary, the Neal-as-Veterinarian story.

I think, this year, that I'm going to write the sequel to A Life Less Ordinary. Because that story stopped before the relationship was fully realized, and there was so much more to explore.

This particular Big Bang has a fairly short writing period - rough drafts are due in early September and posting starts in November.

Besides the Big Bangs, I also want to write the next SPQR'Verse story for my friend [livejournal.com profile] leonie_alastair, who's been exceedingly patient. She also made a donation for the Help Sandy Fandom Aid auction and won a 10k fic. I wonder if there's a big bang comm for BDSM stories...

And besides these longer fics, I've got a few other committments:

Wednesday, July 17, is Peter Whump Day. I've started three different stories where poor Peter gets sunburnt, but they all want to go epic.

Head, meet desk.

Plus it's Bingo Season. I've got my H/C Bingo Card. I've got my Kink Bingo Card. I've also just gotten my Trope Bingo Card (which I haven't posted for prompts yet).

And there are other ideas floating around my head. Like the hurt/comfort sequel/timestamp to Fortune's Just a One Night Stand. I even have the opening in my head. "Neal wakes up screaming."

It's going to be a very busy (and hopefully) productive summer. I am just very grateful for my fellow writers at the [livejournal.com profile] wcwu and the nearly nightly word wars.

Plus I can feel another round of the A/Us I've Never Written meme coming on...as if I need any push to write A/Us.

There are other thoughts in my head, but I don't think I'm going to share them. Not just yet.

And another bonus Bomer, because he's so fucking beautiful, I can't resist.
