After he was able to switch out the paintings, Neal fled with Mozzie, and they lived the high life off the money they made from the treasure, but soon they both started to see Peter and Elizabeth, sometimes together, sometimes separately, but if they looked too closely they'd vanish...finally after four months, Neal called the one person he knew he could trust, and Alex sadly informed him that Keller had kidnapped and killed the Burkes for the submarine treasure he'd run off with, and as Neal hung up the phone, he saw his two friends standing at the corner watching him, and he didn't know if they came to accuse or to forgive -- and he wasn't sure which he wanted.
