Round Two of the Book Cover Meme, still ganked with love and gratitude from
sallymn:
"Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. 1 book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. no explanations, no reviews: just covers."

Check the first comment to see if I can’t resist adding a bit of commentary. This time around, I think I’m rarely going to resist that urge.

My mother's copy was an inexpensive hardbound from the mid-30s, covered in undecorated dark green cloth with a black and worn gold medallion on the spine. The paper and binding were highly acidic. It had already been repaired with cloth tape, and by the time I started reading it in my junior high years, I remember the glue in the spine turning to dust. When I was packing my books during a move between college apartments, this book literally fell to pieces.
But I loved it so much and reading it in other forms never gave me quite the same experience. The book held both my memories and my mother's.
