A selection of random things that have happened today.

Women's Apparel

Wore socks and closed shoes today.  For the first time since mid-April.  Felt really weird.  Constricted, closed off.  Fall is coming...can winter be far behind?  After the endless heat this summer, I can't wait.  Hell, I wouldn't mind retiring to International Falls, MN

Execprod, you've angered me

Got something in the mail today, and am insanely pissed off.  My autographed Tim DeKay Peter Burke FBI cards.  I bought a few of them, and paid an exorbitant amount for postage ($21.60).  The package was supposed to be Priority Mail and insured.  It came in a plain white envelope, uninsured and the total postage was $.44.   I've written to the seller asking for refund of the excess postage.  I'd hate to have to register a complaint with eBay and Paypal.  And believe me, I will.  I love the show...but there are lines that just shouldn't be crossed.

ETA - Heard from ExecProd, apologizing, and he'll be issuing me a full refund.

Fan Fiction, where art thou?

If you are wondering if I've gotten my writing mojo back, I am pleased to say, fuck YEAH!  But you may be wondering, where is it?  It's still a work in progress, at nearly 20k.  I've never, ever written such a long single, continuous narrative (Vampire World is a serial, not a single story).  I hope to finish it tonight.  Does anyone want to beta a future!fic?

Also, when I finish the FIC THAT SWALLOWED ME WHOLE, would anyone like to play in another promptfest?

From the small world files

About two years ago, my dad was in a minor fender bender.  The other party wasn't hurt and no police report was filed.  Two days before the statute of limitations expired, the bastard sued.  Got a call from the insurance company's attorney this evening.  The guy tells me his name and I can't believe it.  I ask if he has a sister, "L" - and he does.  Turns out I went to daycamp with the guy, 32 years ago.  His last name is very uncommon, and I had a nickname for him - "Shoeshine Boy."  He live about ten minutes away.  Snorf.

It's Pimping Time

That sounds great. As soon as you send me the draft, I'll get started on it. Is that okay?

(I mean, as opposed to starting with what you gave me already. I just have a thing where I have to have the whole thing before I start the editing.)

I'm still resisting closed-toed shoes and socks. Today it was cool in the morning but I wore sandals anyway. Long sleeves, my fleece jacket, and sandals. I'm a Boston-area native; it's what we do. :-)

I just finished a fic that's 129k. That's when you know you've hit epic.

The whole country is getting wacked but it's not much worse than most spring storms. Had to take the plants in off the balcony and there's some power outages but it's not too bad. Mainly it's the poor bastards in Christchurch still sweeping up the earthquake rubble that are getting hit hard.

I am going to be in New York in Feb and I think I am gonna freeze, especially since that time of year is summer over here!

Oh, sorry to hear about your dad's legal woes. A similar thing happened to my bro years and years ago. Someone hit HIM and he was seriously injured, and the guy sued him (my bro countered and won).I think his insurance co. settled too if you can believe it. I'm sure his premiums went through the roof too - he was only 19 at the time.

I would happily beta, but can't until my laptop is fixed, and it looks like you've already got some enthusiastic takers. Lemme tell ya, I was bereft without it by my side in bed last night. That's a tale for a different post, I think.

Oh, Elr, I know the feeling about closed shoes and socks. My days of admiring my pedicure via sandals are numbered. But at least in this area, I can get away with bare feet until mid-October! However, my comfort shoe shopping has begun.

Occasionally a scamster is encountered on eBay. I'm so glad Execprod refunded the extra postage - $21.60 for .44? Shameful. But were you pleased with the Agent Burke cards? I didn't even know there was such a thing.

Have a lovely weekend!
